On October 24, there will be a special edition of the podcast: Job Seeker 30 Second Elevator Speech Speed Dating! Callers will have 30 seconds to give their best elevator speech on the air, where recruiters and hiring managers can hear.

There is no cost other than the call, and no guarantees that anyone will get hired, but you never know, and this is a great opportunity to practice as well as hear other elevator speeches and learn from them.

• Be succint. Don't try to tell any stories.
• Make a list of the points you want to make.
• Practice some more.
• Talk clearly. Connection levels vary, in case yours turns out not to be a good one, don't sound like you're announcing at the airport.
